Summary: File not found with form input of file

Initial Comment:
Hi,

If I set a file form input with :
D:/foo/bar/myFile
it works, but
file:/D:/foo/bar/myFile
doesn't work (empty file).

I tried with Firefox, and the two syntaxes should give
the same result.

The form is not submitted (clicking the submit button does
nothing).

What do you meant with "IE 7 doesn't submit"? The form or
the field?

Firefox 2.0 beta 2 has the same behavior than Firefox 1.5
(submit even if url doesn't point to a real file)

I tested with a simple form (input file + submit button)
I get the result in a servlet thanks to apache-commons
fileupload library and I display file name and file content.

C:\Documents and Settings\jhenry\Bureau\temp.txt
Firefox 1.5 OK
IE 7 OK

file://C:\Documents and Settings\jhenry\Bureau\temp.txt
Firefox 1.5 OK
IE 7 doesn't submit

file:///C:\Documents and Settings\jhenry\Bureau\temp.txt
Firefox 1.5 OK
IE 7 doesn't submit

file:///C:/Documents and Settings/jhenry\Bureau\temp.txt
Firefox 1.5 OK
IE 7 doesn't submit

i don't exist (invalid string)
Firefox 1.5 submit an empty file with an empty filename.
IE 7 doesn't submit

I will try with Firefox 2.0 beta 2, but I need to close this
one first ;)

The value attribute is simply used as arg of new File(value)
and it seems that file:/D:/foo/bar/myFile is not correct.

Can you check:
- if FF and IE behave the same
- what for other values are accepted (with \? with file:///,
...)
